i bought a hearse

I bought a hearse, but that's not what this story is about, I just find it interesting that the following events happened the day after I bought a hearse. My dog Butch passed away about 6 months ago, for the sake of brevity, I'll just say that he was the best dog ever, and that I loved him. He loved being outdoors and he loved being at my parents house because he could freely run around in there backyard and explore all the different smells. Butch's collar would make a very distinct sound when he shook his head, so distinct that I could tell It was him, even with 3 other dogs in the house. Today as I was getting ready for church alone at my parents house, the house was quiet, the tv was off, I didn't have any music playing and my other dog, Spike, was actually sitting still and I was rather enjoying the quiet. As I was walking past the large picture window that looks out to the back yard, I heard Butch's collar. My first reaction was to look outside to see what Butch was doing, and it took me a second to realize that he wasn't going to be out there. As soon as that realization hit me, I heard it again. I looked around trying to figure out where that sound came from and thought "oh, it must be Spike". I looked over, and sure enough, Spike was laying on a chair just a few feet away. As I was looking at him laying perfectly still and he was looking back at me with a "why are you starring at me" look on his face, I heard Butch's collar again and so I just said "Butch, if that's you, you're always welcome here, and I miss you buddy". After that, I didn't hear it again.
